Vegas Matt asked:

And I don’t mean an Olympic sized pool or anything, just your typical backyard sized, in ground pool with attached hot tub. About how much will your water and power bills go up, and how much do you spend on chemicals and supplies annually? Please try to give dollar amounts or percent increases. I need numbers, not “a lot.”

I live in Las Vegas which gets over 100 degrees in the summer, and we would not use it during the winter months. Assume about 2 extra months of use time if you live in the midwest or somewhere with snowy winters.

Thanks a lot!

Maximum weight limit on a deck?

13th February 2010

R & R asked:

I know this is going to be difficult to answer without seeing the deck. (yes, I know I would be better off asking a professional, but thought I’d see if there was one here first)
Anyway, I have a portable hot tub. Fill is 300 gallons, up to 4 adults(usually only 2 in at a time)
Filled water weight is 2569 lbs according to manual specification. Adults weight up to 300 lbs max.
My deck is farely new, but we did not build it(bought house).
The deck is approximately 6 ft off ground, with 14 supporting beams(about 2 ft apart), 4 under/crossing beams, plus the top boards to make the deck..(all standard deck materials with bolts, brackets, etc)
I want to put the portable hot tub on it, but concerned. Though it’s by no means the size of a standard hot tub needing ground floor install, it is heavy when filled.
Can someone tell me if this will be ok?
Thanks for your help.

I have a small backyard, but my family really wants a pool. Well, we’re divided: half want a pool (even a small one) and half want a hot tub. In any case, if we get a pool I want an inground one (so one of those inflatable pools is not an option for us–I **** the look and my town is cracking down on fences for them), with a graduated bottom (so little kids can get in safely). But then again, a hot tub is nice too. We can’t afford or make space for both.

So I looked at so-called Swim Spas. I like their sizes, easy installation, and that they can be disassembled if we move. But they all seem to have flat bottoms and be really designed more for exercise. We’re looking for family fun and relaxation.

Any suggestions? Do other options exist? I’d love to hear from others who have installed either small pools or swim spas. Thanks!

I have a hot tub and I currently use the bromine, etc. IS there a natural spa system for cleaning the spa that doesn’t have all the harsh chemicals?
which one does Kevin Trudeau suggest?

I tried one but it didn’t get the spa clean at all. I can’t remember but it was yellow and fit inside the filter..

I want to remvoe the hot-tub in our back yard. It is in perfect working order, but we never use it and would prefer to use the space for other reasons. Since the hot tub is connected to an electrical outlet, do I need an electrician to do anything or can I just unplug it and have it hauled away?

Does anyone know what type of company would even remove a tob tub since I assume they need a crane or heavy equipment to move it?

We just got a new Jacuzzi brand hot tub. We’ve been following the instructions for chemicals as best we can. Every time we finish using it (daily lately) we test and the bromine is zero or close to it. We add more. We test 20 mins later and it’s fine. Sometimes even a bit high. However, the next day, its back to zero. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Is it safe for us to use when it’s at zero?

Thanks!
Yes it’s covered when not in use.

If the water looks good….. test good and it has been 5mts since we filled it. If I wait I will have to do it in the spring then it will be 11mts since a change. ( I live in a cold climate) I just don’t want to waste water or add a bunch of water to a already really wet ground. (hot tub outside) So what do you think?

I’ve been to the Royal Spa manufacturer in Indy and they have a Sultan model I’m interested in. Do you know anything about them that I should know about? I’m very interested in their model and would like some insight on the company. A thorough google search did not help much.

I have a very hard time getting the water right in my hot tub. The ph is high and the water turns rusty after so many chemicals are poured in. The hot tub is for 7-8 people and I think holds 450 gallons but am not sure because it was here when I bought the house. I really want to use it often but can not figure out this water situation.

I know about Snorkel tubs but are there any that are less expensive or kits. What about Solar driven? Orchard
